When something breaks in a move, it's usually because it had room to shift inside the box. The goal of good packing is simple: nothing moves, and nothing touches anything hard.
For dishes, use small boxes and pack plates on their edges, not flat, with packing paper between each one. Crumple paper into the bottom and top of the box, and fill every gap until the box doesn't rattle when you tilt it. Glasses and stemware go in divided boxes, each one wrapped on its own.
Mirrors and framed art should be wrapped in paper or foam, then in a moving blanket, and carried on edge, never flat. Mark the box or wrap as fragile and note which side is up.
TVs are best moved in their original box if you still have it. If not, wrap the screen in a blanket, then shrink-wrap over it so the blanket stays put, and keep the TV upright. And if you'd rather not deal with any of it, our packing service handles fragile rooms on their own or the whole house.
